At some point into every running life, an injury will happen. We can take every precaution, do all the mobility and strength work, take cutback weeks and get enough sleep. But we can also have bad luck; trip on a curb, fall off bike; ignore a niggle when we know better but still don’t listen.

We take injuries very seriously around here. Rebuilding after an injury takes a delicate balance of conservative training, consultation with your medical professionals, extra check-ins and plenty of encouragement from your coach. It can feel scary to start running again; what if the issue flares back up? What if I injure myself again? What if my fitness never returns?

Our approach to the rebuild is optimistically conservative; baby steps now can lead to huge jumps over time. But diving back into hard training too soon can set us back before we get anywhere. We have worked with athletes coming off of surgical procedures, muscle tears, chronic pain, stress fractures and the like. No one path back to health is the same for any two athletes. As an athlete recovers from injury, we often incorporate cross-training workouts (elliptical, stationary bike, aqua jogging) when and where appropriate, depending on what’s available to the athlete. No matter what, we make sure our athletes are ready to roll at full health before building back up again.
